Backup

Keep a recoverable copy of your reply library.

Back up supported TappyWhats local data to recover your reply library and other extension records. Export it, send the file through WhatsApp or import a validated copy. With Pro, set up automatic copies so you have fewer manual saves to remember.

Manual backup is on Free; automatic backup requires Pro access. Team permissions may restrict exports. Automatic copies need the computer on and WhatsApp Web open in the originating browser; sending also needs internet and a connected WhatsApp session. Folder copies require file API support and write permission, as available in desktop Chrome or Edge.

Highlights

A recoverable copy of supported local data

Backups include reply libraries and folders, referenced local attachments, local campaigns and tasks, reminders, extracted groups and supported preferences.

  • Export versioned JSON with an integrity check.

  • Restore supported local data after file validation.

  • With Pro, combine browser, folder and own-WhatsApp copies.

  1. 01

    Export a copy

Open Backup and use manual export to download the JSON. You can also send the file through WhatsApp. Store it somewhere you trust.

  2. 02

    Set up automatic copies

With Pro, configure browser snapshots, select and authorize a folder, or confirm your own number for scheduled sends. Set up each option separately.

  3. 03

    Validate before restoring

Select a JSON file up to 200 MB, review the summary and confirm. Import checks the structure, version and checksum, then replaces supported local data.

Illustrative example: a shop changes computers

Before changing computers, a shop assistant exports her reply library with product images and local reminders. She imports the file in the new browser and checks the items. WhatsApp conversation history and server CRM records follow their own recovery processes.

Does this back up all of WhatsApp and the CRM?

No. It does not include complete conversation history or all WhatsApp media. Server CRM boards, stages and cards, notes and scheduled messages are excluded. Importing an older backup does not restore those server records either.

Does importing merge with my current data?

No. Restoring replaces supported local data with the file’s contents. Export a current copy first. The import limit is 200 MB; invalid files and files that fail the integrity check are rejected.

Is the file encrypted?

No. The checksum checks integrity; it does not encrypt the data. Anyone with access to the JSON can read its contents. Choose carefully where to store your copy and whom to send it to.

What must I set up again in another browser?

Select and authorize the destination folder again; that permission does not travel with the file. Webhook secrets are also excluded. Browser snapshots stay in the browser that created them and can be lost when its data is cleared.
